Ontario Auto Insurance Is Changing
Starting July 1, 2026, some accident benefits that were previously mandatory will become optional. Medical, rehabilitation, and attendant care benefits remain mandatory. All other benefits (income replacement, caregiver, death benefits, etc.) become optional. This affects ALL clients, not just those renewing.
What's Changing?
Ontario is making auto insurance more flexible. Some accident benefits that were previously included in every auto insurance policy will become optional, giving clients more choice to select coverage that fits their needs.
Standard medical, rehabilitation, and attendant care benefits remain in all policies.
Income replacement, caregiver, death benefits, and more can now be added or removed.
