Protect Your Vehicle with TAG Tracking
Is your vehicle on the high-theft list? Avoid insurance surcharges starting at $500 and going up as high as $1,500 depending on the company. Protect your investment with Canada's most advanced vehicle recovery system.

The High-Theft Vehicle Problem
Auto theft is on the rise in Canada, and insurance companies are responding with surcharges on high-risk vehicles. Here's what you need to know.
Insurance Surcharges
Many insurers now impose surcharges starting at $500 and going up as high as $1,500 depending on the company, on vehicles that are frequently targeted by thieves.
Rising Theft Rates
Organized crime has made auto theft more sophisticated, with relay attacks and key fob cloning becoming increasingly common.
Targeted Vehicles
Certain makes and models—especially luxury SUVs and trucks—are disproportionately targeted by thieves for parts and resale.
The Solution: TAG Anti-Theft System
Installing an approved anti-theft device like TAG can eliminate insurance surcharges, reduce your premiums, and provide peace of mind. The installation costs $399+tax, and some companies offer discounts with a valid policy number. Many insurers even cover the full cost for high-risk vehicles.
What is TAG?
TAG (Theft Auto Guard) is a Canadian-made vehicle recovery system that combines theft prevention, RFID technology, and advanced wireless tracking to protect your vehicle.
99.82% Theft Reduction
Vehicles equipped with TAG experience a dramatic reduction in theft attempts.
Cannot Be Jammed or Tampered
Unlike GPS systems, TAG uses radio frequency technology that thieves cannot detect or disable.
Completely Wireless
Independent from your vehicle's electrical system, so it won't affect your warranty.
7-Year Battery Guarantee
Long-lasting protection with guaranteed battery life.
How TAG Works
TAG uses a three-layer approach to prevent theft and recover your vehicle if it's stolen.
1. Theft Prevention
The TAG logo is etched on your driver and passenger windows, serving as a powerful visual deterrent. Thieves know TAG-equipped vehicles are nearly impossible to steal and resell.
"The TAG logo alone prevents almost every potential theft attempt."
2. RFID Technology
Tiny nano-transponders are installed on vehicle parts frequently targeted by thieves. Each has a unique serial number that identifies stolen components, making them impossible to sell.
Self-powered, undetectable, and cannot be jammed by thieves.
3. Wireless Tracking
Multiple wireless tracking devices are hidden throughout your vehicle. TAG's 24/7 tracking team works with law enforcement to recover your vehicle—usually within an hour.
Radio frequency technology that works even if cellular antennas or wires are cut.

Model Year Considerations
General Rule: Last 5 Years
Most insurance companies apply high-theft surcharges to vehicles with model years within the last 5 years. For example, in 2024, this would typically include 2020-2024 models.
Specific Model Year Ranges:
- •2020 or newer: Most high-risk vehicles (Acura RDX, Honda CR-V, Lexus RX, Toyota Highlander, Jeep models, etc.)
- •2017 or newer: Land Rover Range Rover and Lexus LX/GX/RX/TX series
- •2018 or newer: High-value vehicles ($150,000+) including Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban, and luxury models
Example: If the current year is 2024 and the effective date of your policy is in 2024, a Honda CR-V with model years 2021 or newer would be classified as a high-risk vehicle (within the past 3 years).

Frequently Asked Questions
Will TAG lower my car insurance premiums?
Yes! Many insurers offer substantial rebates or discounts for installing TAG. More importantly, it eliminates the high-theft vehicle surcharge (starting at $500 and going up as high as $1,500 depending on the company) that many insurers now impose. Some companies also offer discounts on the $399+tax installation cost with a valid policy number. Contact your insurance provider or broker for specific details about your policy.
Can I get a discount if my vehicle isn't considered high-theft?
Yes! Even if your car is not on the high-theft vehicle list, many insurance companies still offer additional discounts when TAG is installed. The presence of an advanced anti-theft system demonstrates proactive risk management, which insurers reward with lower premiums. Contact your insurance provider to learn about available discounts for your specific vehicle and policy.
How long does TAG installation take?
TAG installation typically takes about 1 hour at Speedy Glass. To keep the tracker locations confidential, only the certified technician is present during installation. A confidential report is then sent directly to TAG.
Who can track my vehicle?
Only the TAG Tracking Team can track your vehicle, and they will not begin tracking until the system is activated. Activation requires your consent and an event number from local law enforcement after you report a theft.
What should I do if my vehicle is stolen?
First, contact your local law enforcement agency to report the theft and obtain an event number. Then, immediately contact TAG Tracking Central at 1-888-448-8241 to advise them of the theft and provide the event number. The TAG Tracking Team will take action within minutes and work with police to recover your vehicle.
Is TAG transferable to a new owner?
Yes, the TAG system is transferable one time to a new owner if the system is less than 3 years old (from installation date). Transfer can be done at the dealership or online through TAG's website. There is a one-time transfer fee. Note: TAG cannot be transferred from one vehicle to another.
Will TAG affect my vehicle warranty?
No. The TAG system is completely wireless and independent from your vehicle's electrical system, so it cannot affect your vehicle's warranty in any way.
